I recommend you begin by assessing what step your child is at in learning to read and then select the module that best fits your child's current level. If you are just starting, I recommend going through the Pre-Reading Skills activities. These activities often go ignored, but are the most critical skills and biggest indicator of how well a child will master reading during the first few years of school. Then, you can go through the other steps, helping your child learn letters, sounds, word families, sight words, and then phonics. Word families and sight words can be done at the same time, and this is where your child will really start to get excited as they begin to read simple books all by themselves. Feel free to repeat the activities as many times as you want with your child and help them to have fun and avoid getting frustrated. Avoiding frustration is important in the early stages of learning to read. Have fun and enjoy the activities!
