Beginning Sounds

Beginning Sounds

Hearing and identifying beginning sounds is an important skill that you child will need to be a good reader. This is a simple and effective activity that helps your child begin to recognize the same sounds in different words. I have included 26 pages of practice so your child can practice a new letter each time! This is also another one of those priceless, quiet activities that your little one can do on their own when if you have something you need get done. Print the Beginning Sounds pages and have your child circle each picture that starts with the corresponding letter at the top of the page. If they don't know the letter, they may need help for the first few pictures until they recognize the pattern of the sound.

Remember: learning is not linear! It may appear as though your child is not progressing, but keep going! By the time you get to letter J/K, you child will suddenly figure it out and begin to get them all right.
