Many parents are surprised to learn that rhyming is an important skill to have before your child can begin reading. In fact, rhyming is a key indicator on how successful a child will be in early years of school. Lucky, most children enjoy rhyming activities and will pick it up naturally. First your child will learn to distinguish if two words rhyme. With enough practice, your child will later be able to come up with a rhyme on their own.

This activity is a simple test to find out if you child can rhyme and how much more practice they may need. You can work on this with you child or have them practice on their own while you are working on other things around the house.
