Where's My Apple?

Where's My Apple?

In this activity, your child is learning to hear sounds that make up a word AND identify the order. When your child uses this hands-on tool, they are making a visual connection to individual sounds.

Each section of the pig represents a sound in a word. You will give your child a spoken word and sound and their task is to put the apple on the head, body or tail to show where the sound is. To begin, say the word aloud, repeat one of the sounds in the three-letter word and have your child move the apple on the pig to the head, body, or tail, corresponding with where the sound is in the word (the beginning, middle, or end). Make sure to demonstrate how to perform this activity a few times before asking your child to do it on their own, as this task will be quite difficult at first.
