Set up this game by placing the sight word cards on the floor. In this video, I placed all the cards close together so you can see how the game works, but feel free to space them out as much as you'd like. You can have multiple copies or one of each sight word that you are working on for the week plus some words to review. In this game, say a word aloud while your little one finds the word and swat's it with a fly swatter or some other long wand. Offer praise for getting words right and quickly, and offer encouraging word when they struggle to find the words.

To add variations to the game, I like to use a wand myself and challenge Claire to a competition. Sometimes I win, sometimes she wins. Alternatively, you can set a 10 second timer so they race against time. You may choose to use less words as your child is first learning the game or is first learning sight words. You can also make it easier by using words that are very different such as like and my. They have different letters. Alternatively if you wish to make it more difficult, use words that are similar or increase the amount of words in the game.
